Title: weight mkiv golf

just wanted to know about both mkiv golf gti 1.8 20v non turbo
and 2.0 8v
Are they both same weight or different ? which is heavier ?

not sure as i havent got a 98/99 brochure, i would say theres not alot in it, there the same specs just the 1.8 20v has twincam 20v head and not as many cc's!! ;D brakes etc are all the same

the weight of a 1.8 (both T & nonT) are:

manual - 1695
automatic - 1730

for 2.3 V5

manual - 1710
automatic - 1745

sorry that was permissible gross vehicle weight.

unladen weight with driver, ready for road is
1.8:

manual - 1270
auto - 1304

2.3:

manual - 1317
auto - 1351

I'd expect the 2.0 to be slightly heavier.

P.S. You get 10 extra bhp from the 1.8 20v. 8)

okay .. i just found out that my H&R springs 35mm are for 2.0 8v .. so that why i wanna know if it will go on my 1.8 20v without any probs in months or so
I have been told that it might be softer on front if i go ahead put it on. The rear is okay
Will anti-roll bar help ?

oh one more thing .. i bought it off ebay for 44 quid .. so it cannot be returned !

springs will fit no prob, not sure wether weight difference will cause any probs, just look at other spring manufators and if 1.8 and 2.0 in same bracket area u should be ok

yeah ... i had a look at eibach springs as they do get spring for 1.8 and 2.0 together! so i should be alright then
