after work, had to bump the car for some reason, although i think it might have been my new(ish) starter sticking... have to take that off and look at w/e
popped bonnet and the p*ss*ng spring in the release mechanism broke!
can you buy these springs seperate or do i have to buy the whole release mechanism?

not sure if u can get spring seperate but u could go to scarppie and get the lot cheap?

finding a mk2 golf in a scrappy round here is like trying to find a needle in a haystack...
i've phoned the local dealership and got the lower mech on order for 12 quid exc VAT.. bout 15quid ish, so at least i know its new and hopefully wont break for another 16 years...

Had to replace mine a few months ago, what a pain
I bought a new one from the dealers, reckoned the same as you, £15 was worth it for something that should last another 15 years!
It looks a lot smarter than the old one anyway :smiley:

ive only bought the bottom half thou, bit you cant see, might get top half if i feel like it haha

I replaced mine with one of those springs that holds various size allen keys onto a keyring, it has to be bent into shape but it works a treat. Easy to get too as well, just remove the grill and bobs yer unkle
