Bought some bottle tops from Ebay for the princely sum of 99p. However, they were in a bit of a state as you can see. I just wanted a cheap set of original wheels so that I could return the car to OEM.

The previous owner had already tried to spray them and his own paint was flaking off as well as the original paint. I set about using paint stripper then sanding it down ready for spraying but it was very time consuming.
In the end, I found out I could get them professionally shot blasted and powder coated (front and back) for £14 per wheel so I did that instead. I think it looks pretty good. They didn't do anything about the kerbing but its not very noticeable once painted.

I'll see how hard wearing it is come Winter! If anyone is interested I used CAS Coatings in Bradford Tel. 01274 634493.

bargain!
Look good too

Wow, really nice job, making me think a bit now! :undecided:

The cost is '£1 per inch' hence £14 for 14 inch wheels like these. Apparently, you can get a metallic finish instead for £1.50 per inch but I decided not. If I had some BBS RA's though..............
Also, I've been told by colleagues that powder coating is far harder wearing than just normal spray painting. We shall see.

For powder coating thats a really good price as the finish looks spot on. Didnt realise it was so cheap, I might get a quote from my local enamalers and see how much it will be to do my RA's
Cheers,
Andy

So basically if your wheels are straight with no curbing or bad scrapes or scuffs it's probably worth just getting them shot blasted and powder coated?
I'm looking to get me RA's done and it was going to be £200-ish to get them refurbed. This way it could only be £60-70.
Cheers guys

Looks good
Mine are ready. tempting..........

Phoned up my local enamalers - North West Enamels and they quoted me 85 quid for shotblasting and powder coating my RA's silver
Well chuffed
Cheers,
Andy

looking forward to getting my new pics up now.. become a bit addicted to coating atm
-
my plan was to polish the bottle top bit, and spray the rest satin black.
couldn't be ars£d in the end, but still think it would look cool as

£14 a wheel is a bloody bargain! Down south you'd be lucky to get it done for under £100, usually it's about £30-45 a rim.

Sounds like bristol lol..
