Title: Lifespan of GTI Disks & Brake Pads?
Post by: deanpoli on 31 July 2007, 23:12
Whats the average lifespan in terms of mileage do GTI disks and brake pads last for?

I guess this is one of those 'depends on driving style' answers, my vehicle has just covered 10K miles and discs are fine (not lipped at all but hub area has got surface corrosion) and pads seem fine also. I would
expect at least another 5 to 8 K out of my pads and hopefully more out of the disks!

Is that all? When I sold my MK4 R32 at 26k it was still on original discs and pads, pads only just over half worn! Also my brother has a MK5 TDI 140 thats done 45k and is still on original discs and pads...surely the GTI bits won't perform that badly?

Maybe my estimate was somewhat conservative but in truth I really don't know as I have rarely kept a vehicle long enough for discs and pads to be replaced! All I can report is that at 10K my discs and pads are fine and showing no real signs of wear!
