apparently my engine :undecided: needs this as theres a slight clicking / tapping noise as the engine runs ?? :p
-
 heard of skimming the head?!
Dinx

ye this is to do with the tappets in the cylinder head, the shims im sure are behind/underneath the tappets, they can be replaced to reduce the space of the tappet (as they wear over there liftime) so it reduces the clicking/tapping
hope this helps

mine taps badly until totally warm! :lipsrsealed:

hehe yeah , thanks i went to see a garage they were like " you wont get it much quieter than that sonny lol "
-
must be a crap garage then.. as I've reshimmed a few mk1's and it made alot of difference afterwards = quiet and better running of engine. Properly the garage has no idea where to get the required shim's...

isnt the process reletivly easy to do yourself? euro-crap -parts do them along with gsf... just a tad time consuming though...

yep its not too bad to doo, you just have to get the right required skim's for each tappet. I replaced my cam when I need mine as well, put the new cam on first and then measure the required difference to get the skim's needed.
link to help you...
