As far as i am aware they need to pull you over, they normally work in pairs , or as i found out last month jump out on you , yes i got pulled i was doing 33 in 30 zone , i got lucky maybe the charm of the two year old in the car saved me and i got ticked off after he had show me the gun.
So in short they ( if memory serves right ) need to pull you there and then and show you the gun / record as unless im very much mistaken it can't take a photo ( the gun that is ) and neither will it record your details. It's one point / check ( pull you or reset it for the next one )
maybe wrong

I think you'll find the plod who's operating it saves the image, which would have your number plate on, so you might get something in the post, I did on the A505 outside Dunstable.

That must be with a hand-held camera and not a radar.  According to speedtraps.co.uk (or whatever its called) the police must stop you if they get you with a radar gun.

Surely the question is 'Does it record your number plate?', not 'Does it record your speed?'.

i would of thought any speed detecting item under the sun will record speed?

Not sure but the one that got me last weekend had a huge lens housing so was pretty obviously a camera.

Might just be one of these community plebs, er, sorry.. volunteers  who record speeding motorists. Worse that will probably happen is you will get a poison letter through the post telling you to stop speeding

I bloddy hate all these speeds cameras and idiots with the handheld ones.

If there aint enough to concentrate on the roads. They need scraping.
