Hi guys,
My Golf Mk 3 GTI is idling very low, around 800rpm but when im driving along and put in the clutch it goes all the way down to about 400rpm before recovering. However this isnt the major problem but might be a contributing cause, when it is heavy rain and driving through alot of surface water the car has now twice started to splutter and then when trying to accelerate decides to go nowhere and dies.
It then wont start again and have to call the AA who last night managed to get it started by removing one of the spark plugs. It however was still not running right and the AA guy said it may be a weak fuel pump issue! Has anyone got any suggestions or experience with this problem as i had it fixed once and its now just come back!
Any help please!

spray wd40 over the leads and coil next time it run's crap and see if that makes a difference. I am guessing you have a split coil (quite common fault).

Yeah thats what my dad suggested, think i should try it, the strange thing is tho that once it goes this way it doesnt actually go back untill the garage has a tinker, but will def try the wd40 advice, thanks alot

AA man may have a point. Fuel pump is cheap and easy to replace, but as BB suggests do the easy stuff first.

how much u reckon fuel pump is? Is it just a matter of take out one out of boot and hook up new one?
Cheers
