Title: 1.8GTI T.. upgrades (need recommendations!)
Post by: VW_KAL on 20 February 2004, 20:48
I like this forum.. always get the help and response I need.. anyways here is another one...

I had some spare cash and wanted to get some upgrades for my GTI from awesomegti.com, can any give me the opinion on the following items if they have had experience with them.. price are they a decent price? are they a good combination? What alternatives and Why? :

1) The NEUSPEED P-FLO? (Induction Kit) - ?150

2) Hyperboost Diverter Valve by Stratmosphere - ?80 (can you service this like the forge by opening it applying lube or is it shut tight?)

3) H&R Sport Suspension Mk4 Golf 50mm - ?110

4) * extra - Touareg cigerette light torch

Any feed back would be welcomed and I`m sure will help other potential GTI owners who are thinking of the above upgrades.. Thanks for your time!

If I am right in thiking that the Neuspeed Induction kit does not have a cold air in feed then dont bother, get something like the Dynatwist or Carbonio.
I can recommend the Forge DV007P as I have one, not sure about the Hyperboost  but quite a few peeps have one so it must be OK.
Beware when lowering your car more than 45mm as you may well have problems with the ARB hitting the driveshaft - I did and had to have an aftermarket H&R ARB fitted which is great because I can go as low as my coilovers will let me without any fouling problems.
The torch seems like a nice little gimmick, I have been meaing to pick one up for a while now.

Thanks for your replies, well after the advice GaryM has given me I`ve gone and ordered the Forge 007P from forgemotorsport.co.uk and the Carbonio Intake Kit from awesomegti.com (also ordered the touareg torch to replace the cig lighter cuz i dont smoke!). Should get them by the end of the week and will have fun over the weekend fitting them on.. Now the only thing left was some lowering springs that will compliment my the standard 1.8 GTI Turbo suspension kit.. Ive tried looking for 40 / 45mm springs, but cant seem to find any. H&R only do 30mm and 50mm. Any light on that would be great.

Thanks again!

(Snowball saving up for the revo.. just not quite ready yet!)

Glad to hear!!
You will not be dissapointed though don't expect any power increases from your new DV, its just much much stronger than the OEM one so when you do choose to get Revo there won't be a problem with it popping every other month.
You'll love the sound of the Carbonio though  ;D
