Title: Brake upgrade

Hi,  Im looking to upgrade my brakes on my 1.4L As cheep as possible.   I need to keep the 4 stud wheels so im afraid a GTI upgrade  is out of the question. 

At the moment theres far to much travel on the pedle and its very spongy, although...  There is NO air in the system and no leaks,  It retains its pressure so i dont think the master is at fault.

The brakes are sh!te anyway so...   Whats the best thing to do?   i guess theres not much to be done to the rears, so i will put new shoes on.  drums are newish anyway.  Would adding vented disks off a TDI make much diffrence?

Or... failing that does any one know how to make the brake pedle like it should be???? its getting anoying now because i just cant track down the problem,   The brakes work ok but its just so soft!!

mk2 g60 280mm jobbies should fit

would it be a problem that the front brakes would be massively more powerful than the rear brakes, or would the system compensate?

you could put a gti setup on the back but use mk2 read disks to get the 4 stud

Ahh of course Mk2!!  forgot about they :D

If i do upgrade i will do the front and back.   Before i do i wanna make sure its not the master cylinder causing the spongy pedle first.
