Title: coolant cap...boiling over...
Post by: dabill on 23 July 2007, 18:33
just been stuck in the middle of sheffield, stranded because my cooland decided to boil up...

had a look at it and noticed the seal in the new cap i bought (i say new...i mean second hand) was half on and half off... could this cause the water to boil over as it wouldnt allow enough pressure in the system to build up?

any info please, sorted the seal out and it seems to be ok...

seems funny its happend now since i changed the cap on saturday, and didnt drive the car on sunday...

I have had the same problem as yes, almost definately caused by the ill fitting seal. Check the seal to make sure it is still intact and not stretched and carry on.
