hi guys is there any differences in the power steering through the mk2 range? i might buy a setup of a gl but want the rack to be the same as the gti?
-
best thing to do would be find somebody willing to do a bit of research on etka for you
I think the only differences are lock to lock between pas and non pas racks but then i could be wrong
-
yeah thats what i thought but i want to be sure!
-
did i read the 16v rack was quicker than the 8v? and theres a certain bolt that differs to, or bracket..

Ive read that before but i think its an urban myth, i cant notice the difference between 8v and 16v power steering

the 16v is meant to have a heavier weighted PAS rack. no difference in turns though

If you find that the steering IS too light, then it can be made heavier by using a smaller diameter high pressure pipe, but as far as I'm aware, theres no difference, and you can use a PAS rack from any Golf 2

The 16v pas brackets are different from the rest of mk2 golfs. Other than that they are all the same - least thats what I was told when I asked about doing it on my 8v
