Title: Electric windows
Post by: richyrooney on 22 July 2007, 16:32
Have a five door golf and left rear window will only go up and down on the door switch, not on the switch on the dash.By my awesome powers of deduction this leads me to suspect the dash switch is knackered.Question is are the two rear window switches and isolator button one complete unit thus meaning i need a complete new one or separate? And also how does it come out of the dash as have had majour traumas with trim removal in the past?cheers people

It's all one unit mate, and it just pops out

Had a similar broken myself at one point. Got myself a new switch thinking it was that which had shot, but it actually turned out to be a wire had been slightly cut in the loom that goes through into the door from the B Pillar. If you pop the rubber boot off the block at the B Pillar and pull it back and just check all the wiring first for breaks, at least you can isolate that before you go buying a switch.
