Hi all
I'm looking at spending next to nothing to get the most out of my Mk2 1.6 Driver.
It's recently had new spark plugs, dizzy, and module. New disks on the front and a new back box.
What else is there i can do to prolong the life of the car, or even get a little more out of it?
Thanks :)

oil and filter change and fuel filter.these are both quite cheap and easy to do

Relay shaft bush!

Good wash and polish keep the paint looking good :) grease door hinges arms and any other bits that look dry :)

lay flat rear wiper a completely free mod wont improvee it performance wise but looks sooo much better.
best mod is a webber carb can get them for between £50 to £100 on ebay will improve performance, although fuel consumption will suffer slightly

I found that with a Weber carb on mine the fuel consumption actually improved! Could be that the old Pierburg had a crack in it though!

yeah the new webber carb brought my 1.6 Driver a new lease of life

Have a look at the 2E2 FAQ and go through it. Replace any worn vacuum hoses. My 2E2 carb is working great and I can get mid to high 30's (mpg) on mixed runs. It's also auto choke. Also do a search for GTi camshafts. Pretty cheap to pick up and not hard to fit. Gives a bit of performance increase.

Thanks for the suggestions guys :)
Going to look into the webber carb route, as i've always had it in the back of my mind!
Needs touching up all over too.
