Just a small question for you all...i have a 1997 16v and when i bought the car it had no GTI or 16v badge on the grille, what am i missing?Is it just the red 16v one or do i require the GTI one as well?

Yea you need the original Golf GTI badge with a small 16v, my car was missing these 2. they were selling them at inters i cant think who it was, but they are a big vw parts supiler.

eurocar parts

got mine for the grill for just over a fiver, genuine VAG item too, you need red 16v for the front if its a 16v.

ok guys went to vw yesturday and purchased a brand new 16v badge and someone has given me a GTI badge, question is which way round do they go as there doesn't seem to be room for them both? Any body got a pic to help me out?Cheers

Went over it about 5 times in total with Red coloured t-cut and a polisher which my friend informed me I could get for a tenner for Aldi of all the places..

No i did it the first time, then the 4th time the week after. The week after that i did it the 2nd time and then the 5th time followed by the 3rd!

If you look on the grille, the badge goes in the middle slat to the very right. Look between the slats and you'll see a hole in one of the grill support/ The clip on the right of the badge sits in there to line it up properly

cheers new 16v badge looks rather splendid!Sorry to sound thick! but does it just have the 16v one on its own at the front?....ie no GTI one?

Yup just a red 16v badge on it's own. The 8v GTis just have a GTI badge
