Title: idle screw
Post by: forzanerazzurri on 20 February 2004, 08:27
hello all,  sorry for this  but last night i was under the influence of alcohol when i decided to try and fix my idle and in the process cleaneved out the idle screw by unscrewing it,  but i forgot to count the number of turns it took to get it out, and when i put it back in i had no idea what amount to screw it in,  so i tried a few positions and it owuldnt start  so i tried a few other after about 5 or 6 when i went to start it  i heard an enormous pop like a firecracker and it smelles horrible,  what have i done and is there any way anyone could tell me how many revs fomr when the screw is all the way i need to unscrew so that i get my idle back?

when the screw is fully screwed in there is no air getting past so it will stall, or not start

just screw in it about half way then adjust it until you get the rev's down/up to exactly where you want them

hi, i was wondering does screwing the idle screw in and out alter your settings ie mixture other than at idle. what im getting at is ,i had my car set up on the rollers and it made a hell of a difference but when i got home it was ticking over too high so i turned the idle screw to turn it down but i want to know if i will have upset the settings that they made at the dyno?cheers.dean.
