Title: suddenly car wont start?
Post by: alcamistdvd on 20 July 2007, 10:42
car been running a bit funny lately. when pulling off on putting foot on the accelerator takes a fews seconds to build up power on first start then ok. yesterday went to start and the bloody thing just wouldn't catch, trying to fire is there but just can't get it before flooding.

so i took the plugs out and replaced them they were were well sooty and one had oil on it. took the throttle body off and gave it a good clean then all the connections i could find gave them a little clean.

also checked the rotor arm and dizzy cap and gave them a little clean to too.

but the damn thing is still not starting.

any other suggestions welcome.

are you getting a spark from the coil? these are a very common failure.

Just a thought.
Did you put the plug leads in the right order? I suspect the timing is out.
Also with the ignition on, can you hear the ISV buzzing?

am currently waiting for a friend of a friend to pop over with the hope he'll go "oh that's so an so" (wishful thinking i think )

right mate just called and thinks it may be overfueling/underfurling due to the fuel regulator.

can't test til tomorrow now as flattened the battery . also he's gonna check his programs in work for common faults, so hopefully on my way to getting sorted.

Right, just found the vacumn pipe from the manifold is split where it goes into splash tray so order some new stuff off ebay.

i'm hoping that'll be the problem
