Hi
New to all of this, just bought a '99 gti 2.0, and think it is a bit slow, what is the best thing to buy that will make it faster. :D Ady

depends on how much you want to spend and if you want it to effect the insurance.
Induction kit
exhaust
chip
cams etc.
-
Or you could just sell it and get 1.8T, Much more fun, Loads of potentual

I sold my Pug 306 1.8 (16V) 112Bhp and got a golf Mk4, 1.8T 20V 180bhp, and BLIMEY!!! WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!
It's only got 3 Bhp less hasn't it, than the 2.0 Gti?
I thought there was something wrong after i'd test drove the turbo and got back in my 306. There was nothing there when i pressed the accelerator!
Why settle for less than a turbo nowadays?

2.0 gti's are only 125bhp
-
Mk 4 2.0 GTI is only 115bhp (8v engine), Early Mk 4 non turbo GTI was 1.8 20v and 125bhp, although max torque figures are similar for the two engines.

That cleared that one up then ;D
