Title: Golf mk1 gti door seals
Post by: batman04 on 13 July 2007, 13:39
Help! I have a mk1 golf gti, and recently got new door seals for it for GPC, doing one door at a time. i have guled the first on round and now dried i tried shutting the door and it won't close i can't work out why, it looks to me as it's not compressing enough and getting caught between the the inner edge of the door and the body, i've checked lots and sure it's in the right place, can someone help, am i missing something.

did you compare the old door seal with the new ones to make sure they are the same? The door is sitting straight on the car right? Doors drop over time and this can cause issues when new seals are installed.

yer the door is sitting straight, and i measured the old to new and look right, i phoned GPC in Luton and they don't see why id have a problem with it, when u shut it, it just squeezes up so much it can't anymore and stops the door going back the rest of the way, even tryed tucking it out the way and still nothing, just don't seem enought room for it, it's driving me mad.
