Title: MoreThan> LessThan. ??
Post by: Creepy Coupe on 10 July 2007, 17:06
Insurance is due for renewal on the R32 with MoreThan>, renewal quote £397, so I looked online and received a cheaper quote on their own website , “nothing new there” I hear you say, but it’s £279.00, a whooping £118 cheaper, I’ve checked and checked again and details are the same, I really temped to stay with them as the best “other” quote is a £1 under the renewal £396.00 with Privilege

The thing is I wanted to get away from MoreThan> and their overseas call centre’s, so getting round to the point, has anyone claimed with MoreThan. And if so, what has your experience been like.

Thanks in advance

im with morethan currently, but wont be from next month as they wont insure me on the gti (there a low risk insurer).
someone hit me and i informed them, the third party paid 100% no problems. however its still on my record, i got put 2nd driver on my gfs car and they could see that morethan had put this on my record so they had to pay more for me! totally unfair. and i dont believe all insurers do it. plus like you said their call centres are cack!! never hear or understand them

I used to be with Direct Line for about 7 years, and always renewed without bothering even looking elsewhere (after a couple of years - nowhere could beat them!).  One year I decided to look them up on the internet as I was changing my car.  Their internet price was about £120 less than my renewal price!!
I phoned and asked why - the guy told me new customers get special discounts and I should buy it online!
I then shopped around a bit, and ended up with Privilege - who are the same people.
Now every year I check my renewal price online - and usually end up being a 'new' customer again!  Its funny when they send me a letter asking for proof of my no-claims bonus from my previous insurer - and I have to call them up and tell them THEY are my previous insurer... EVERY YEAR!!

Exactly the same with me p3eps, drive's me mad they don't send me their best price, I suppose the rely on a large number of customers just paying up.
Privilege look the best of the rest for me, at the mo.

Im with Privilege and my car was hit whilst parked in a car park. Once the third party paid in full they removed the 'claim' from my record and gave me back my full NCB so I was in no way penalised for it.

Best advice is to shop around every year. Use a search engine like these:

http://confused.com/

http://insurancewide.com/

http://www.moneysupermarket.com/insurance/

http://www.comparethemarket.com/index.asp

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/

I'm paying around the £400 mark with MoreThan. However, I had my last car broken into on my driveway ( 2 alloy wheels nicked as well as damage to the car ) . MoreThan sorted this out extremely quickly , I had a courtesy car straight away and no questions were asked ( ie the fact the alarm didn't go off etc ) . £1800's worth of work in all. My only gripe was having to speak to 'Derek in India'  but  wasn't a massive problem. You get what you pay for I guess.

I dont understand why all you guys are getting such cheap insurance!!
Im 27 3yrs ncb and only do 10k a year... yet the best I can get for my R32 is £1110.00

Anyone know why??? I have had my licence 9 years now and never hit anything or claimed... Tried all the search engines and just cant get a better quote.

sometimes goes on your area, occupation etc.  they may class you as a high risk  :undecided:

best thing is to get your online quotes and then ring the companies and play them off each other :afro: should help knock the price down a bit

plus your insurance will go down once you've rakced up full NCB's (normally 5 years with most insurers) though being 27 should make a big difference  :undecided:
