Post by: blinky88 on 10 July 2007, 00:15
Pleeeeease someone tell me what steps this guy did to achieve this:

http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=30484&highlight=tornado+red

I know, I know, he has clearly listed what he has done...but I DONT KNOW WHAT HES TALKING ABOUT!

Im damn sh!t with cars. I still wash my car with my dads old products and even then I dont know what Im really doing.

Whats he talking about?! .... nxt? waffle weave? menzerna ip? german applicator? auto glym srp? megs #21?

What does all this mean! Could someone explain what these are, how I apply them, and get a result like this guy has! My tornado red mk3 needs some attention.

Thankyou thankyou

NXT is a meguiars range, most of which is available in halfords, in this case its the shampoo.

waffle weave is a drying towel, it absorbs alot of water.

menzerna is another brand of cleaning products in this case i guess its a harsh polish to cut back to fresh paint. german applicator? not surebut i'd imagine its a closed foam applicator pad.

autoglym SRP = Super Resin Polish. a good cheap polish, good for hiding swirl marks if several layers are applied and also available from halfords.

megs #21. megs is short for meguiars and the #21 is a sealant, which kinda protects the paint and helps add depth to the coats of super resin polish.

this car was done by hand and so would have been done with these german pads he mentioned and removed/buffed off with microfibre cloths.

without going crazy you could buy meguiars number 1 paint cleaner, autoglym super resin polish and meguiars NXT wax all from halford in their 3 for 2 deal on cleaning products. plus some NXT shampoo, some applicators and some microfibres, again in the 3 for 2.

hope that helps some.
