Title: problems with the golf gti i just bought,

ill make a list,

do 1986 golf gti's have central locking?

gear lever seems really sloppy and you can hear it go into gear is this normal?


lose's power in 3rd and 4th gear???

i bought this car cheap from a friend of a friend, didnt expect it to mint, as im using it as a project,

1. It was an optional extra. You would have a pump in the boot if it was fitted, not sure exactly where as i don't have it  :sad:

2. Yes, the bushes are worn and need replacing. There is a very good guide in the maintenance child board at the top of this page.

3. Does it splutter and bog down? Or do the revs rise but car doesn't seem to go anywhere? Does it only happen when cold? Just some more info would be useful really.
