Title: mk3 2.0 in to mk1???

Will a 2.0 8v gti engine fit a mk 1, are the mounts ruffly in the same place and is the block not too tall??

Little help ???

I think the mk3 2ltr engine is a "tall block". This will be about 16mm taller than your engine, I am sure that it will fit, but there may be some clearance issues with the bonnet.
I would use the Audi 80 engine (3a?) as this has the same block height and will look totaly standard ;). Your engine mounts, flywheel and g/box will bolt up no probs.

Cheers for the info, i've already got the engine as its sittin in my stacked mk3, may put it in my mk2 than, useful extra tork maybe(plus low miles), move my mk2 gti engine in to my mk1 caddy, will that work???
