hmm maybe they did a few? it always seems weird when car companies do this. ie that crazy MG thing with all the vents.... and punto headlamps: http://www.2sportscars.com/wallpapers/MG-XPower-800.jpg

...or noble m12 with mondeo rear lights:
http://www.pistonheads.com/news/images/7854-123814.jpg

seems like pointless cost cutting.

theres a big list of them in last weeks autocar. that XJ220 jag had rover 200 rear lights.

The Lambo guillardo ( or whatever its called) uses seat belt buckles from a fiat panda. Lambo charge £700 for a new one....fiat @ £25

I think the lights really suit that car  does seem a bit weird tho using other car parts ... wouldnt they have to pay a certain amount to use the design?  :undecided:

Old TVR Cerberas had upside down Mk3 fiesta rear clusters!

Sorry, I know that's not the best pic, but for some strange reason in all the others I find they've been changed! ha ha

I think that'd because TVR wanted to concentrate on building great engines and chassis.
And you can make do without lights if you're just putting on the track, look at the new lotus.

Joe, the mirrors in this pic are identical to the mirrors fitted to our Marcos Mantis race car, we're not exactly sure of their origin, but they are the very same as Aston Martin DB7 items from a few years back, and are probably Ford or Mazda parts bin specials!
The mirrors on a car like MCF1 would have been subject to safety legislation, depending on what country they were exported to, and on which side of the road they drive, even though the F1 has a centrally mounted seat. To make things even more confuseing, they probably would have sourced LHD and RHD mirrors to compensate for the unusual driveing position, otherwise the the mirror glass would look odd in its caseing, with unusually wide gaps.. sorry to bore!

The reason that many low volume manufactuers use already existing parts, eg, lights, locks, seat belts, etc.. is that these parts have already been "Type approved" quite simply they throw countless pre-production cars at a concrete block, to test, and approve the parts, once approval has been gained on these parts, they can be fitted to anything, and not have to go through type approval again, saving the little guys millions in development costs...

Opps, so they are - my bad! Why'd I think they were upside down?!

And Tom26, yeah that pic really wasn't easy to find - I thought it would take about 13 seconds, but no! I was only abot 90% sure of my facts though so I wanted to check myself before I posted...and I still got it a bit wrong! Ha ha

they would have been better at making said great engines work properly or the electrics , or at all

Certain Montego's used Mk2 golf gti gearboxes! And those silly little French-made town cars you see about used Nova rear lights and are now using Corsa 5 door rear lights! That's all I can remember for the minute!!!
