Title: buggered electrics
Post by: stufirth on 30 June 2007, 15:31
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey guys how's tricks,
new here and i'm in need of some help/advice. I have a 1992 Mk2 8v GTi and have suffered a massive electrical failure. For no aparent reason my car just cut out the other day. No dramas it's 15 years old these things happen. When I tried to start it again there was alot of white smoke and an accrid smell of burning plastic. When the smoke had cleared I had melted wires at the ECU 5-way plug and melting by what I think is the fuel distributer, the connectin comes out of the same part of the loom as the idle valve thingy. Does any one have the first idea what has happened? Who would you recommend to fix it??

Cheers guys
