Post by: VWaddict73 on 30 June 2007, 00:37
hi all....

I have had numerous Vdubs over the years and have enjoyed them all...

....in order...

...88 polo Coupe, 89 Golf Mk 2 8v, 93 VR6 Corrado,....10year gap.......93 VR6 Corrado, Mk4 Golf V6 4Motion, Touareg??, 06 Golf GTI turbo

Currently have the Golf Mk 5 GTI and love it!! Am also looking to fulfill a earlier dream of obtaining a run out model Mk 2 oak green GTI. Never quite got to this before, jumped from the 8v to the Vr6 Corrado...Was thinking a 16v and 5 door. Though I say 16v, i havent driven one?? whats the main differences in driving over the old 8v I had?? I am just looking for a weekend toy to take me back to my youth...

thanks in advance, any advice on what sort of money I should be prepared to pay, what to look out for etc would be very much appreciated.

Steve

hi there!
16v more revvy, shorter 5th gear and just a touch more sporty? (don't really want to start the 8v - 16v debate AGAIN)

Hi, some interesting past cars there

^ Toms hit the nail on the head really.  Do you want a minter to love £2K-3K or a project in vgc to perhaps play with £800 (if your lucky) - £1500

This link is a start.  I bet someone has a better "what to look for"

I don't want a total project case, I do enough of that with my Landy obsession. So either something at the very nice and useable scale - ie £1500 max, or I'd also consider a low miler mint that I can put in the garage and be obsessive with - ie £2500 with decent miles and history. 5 doors a must.

if anyone knows of any please get in touch

thanks

Steve

just seen this one on autotrader. What do you guys think??
http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/cars_popup.jsp?did=49011&pageid=1&originalid=&gid=nogroup&tid=80&start=3&distance=0&adcategory=cars&channel=DEALERPAGE&id=200727290673163
Only problem, is they say that the guy who has just had it for the last 16 years wasn't the sort of guy to keep hold of all the paperwork, so there is limited history, a few MOt's and bills but no service book or regular servicing...

84k miles and the driver seat bolster is knackered - surely not.......

The search goes on I think
