Title: Revo woes
Post by: topher on 16 February 2004, 16:34
As some of you know my car was due for it's revo today, all started well, the "before" power chart showed i was already producing 156bhp at the crank, so in went the diagnostics tool, which told us there was no software available for my engine code  :(
The guys at stealthracing made a quick call to revo, who told them that the software for my ECU wont be ready until the first week in March. So what was the problem ? Because my car is a non-dbw with factory fitted cruise control, it causes problems with reflashing the ECU.
On the up side, I only have a few weeks to wait, and it's being done at a discounted price because of the mixup. Also the new exhaust both looks and sounds VERY tasty  ;D (pics to come when its clean)
Big thanks to Vince and the lads at stealthracing.  :)

bummer about that matey!! :(, never mind a few weeks wait and a discount if big enough should be worth it!! has the exhaust made any difference to performance as well as noise?? ;D

didn't bother sticking it on the rolling road at the end, so have no figures, but it does feel more responsive, and feels like it pulls better in high revs (i should hope so for the price of the milltek kit ! lol )
Oh and the new forge dump valve makes a very subtle release noise thats barely audible, just what i was after  :) No doubt it'll get a little louder though when the revo is making all that extra boost.

ive just fitted a miltek cat back system to my revo'd 150bhp. i had the vevo done about 6 months and have just fitted the miltek and it makes the turbo spin  up faster and sound's so much sweeter. ;D

get the downpipe and cat too, you won't be dissappointed  ;)

I second that. The catback is just for looks alone, hardly and performance increase.
Now the downpipe and high flow cat is a different matter all together!
I had mine fitted a couple of months after the Revo and it feels that good its like being remapped again  ;D
This is a very important mod for the life of your turbo as its creating much more boost and heat when chipped / remapped so it needs the bigger downpipe and cat to get rid of it all.

thanks for the feedback guys. i was half tempted to go for the d/pipe and hi flow cat but after your recemendation i have ordered it and have sorted a dyno test in a couple of weeks so we can see how good it is. all the companys i called for a price all said it was a well worth it mod, even though they would say that i spose..

one more thing tophuh/gary what have you had done to yours and have you been on the rollers with them?? ive got a revo remap/ bailydv30/ kn panel filter and was just wondering what you guys think would be a good next step after the d/pipe hiflow cat had been fitted..
and what power you think im looking at i was thinking upwards of 200 bhp/not sure about the torque..

depends what year your car is, i'd guess 210bhp if you've got a 150bhp model, 225 - 230 ish if you've got a later 180bhp model.
You might want to look into the revo 4bar software and FPR, i don't think it's available for mine because mine's non-dbw  :(

I have the Revo 4 bar software with a 4 bar FPR, a Revo SPS3 which Im currently running at High Boost 7 Ignition Timing 6, Dynatwist CAI with the cold air pipe routed right to the front bumper, Forge DV007P and the Milltek.
I haven't been on the rollers yet (soon though) but my estimation would be 240bhp and around 260 ft/lbs of torque.
BTW my car is a 2003 (53) 180bhp DBW.

ok so whats the diffrence between my revo and the 4bar jobbiemine was just the standerd revo. does the 4bar run more boost? can you upgrade mine or do you just remap over it??
p.s. mine is a 150bhp 1999 how do i know if its drive by wire or not?
