ive been looking at the corrado's on autotrader site lately, the prices of the early ones (1.8 16v) and a few (2.0 16v) have come right down!! yet the golfs is staying put, reckon the mk2 will have to go soon and a corrado may be on the cards for me!!! ;D, dunno which id choose, cabs are ace fun but not always practical, what with british weather etc!! lol, all the mks/models you have listed have plus points, and some have minus points!! lol, drive em all then decide after all its hard earned cash that your spending and theres nothing like a golf for holding money! ;D

If you do go for a Corrado stick with the 1.8L as I hear the 2.0L isn?t as good. I have seen some G60 Corrado's going for around the ?3000 mark which is a much better option that the Corrado 16V but these will probably require some money spending on it. You could Go to Germany and pick up a real bargain if you can live with the left hand drive.. Passat G60 syncro for ?500 anyone ;D

The 2.0L is a much better engine than the 1.8,  problem is it has all emissions stuff on it, still quicker though. The 9a (2.0l) also has knock control, so 95 RON fuel can be used with no probs.

wish you'd make up your mind mate.

My choice obviously would be a mrk1 cab, but since you an undecisive, loonatic of the male variety i reckon you more suited to a mark 2 ;D

Buy a mk3 16v.

Safe, comfortable, sophisticated, cool, stanrd, and moderately quick. Or If you can afford the insurance

a high miler VR 6 golf.

I went for a 4 grand mk3 cab instead as performance comes second to fun for me, but if you want your VW speed then yeah 16v, or a vr.

Takes a real fan to own a mk2/1
