Title: Borbet A's
Post by: VW_valver on 28 June 2007, 09:45
Hi all, dependant on how much it's going to cost me to get my car through the MOT I'm planning on buying a set of Borbet A's for it. The front's are 16 x 7.5 and the backs are 16 x 9.0 with 195/45's on the front and 215/40's on the rear.

I was wondering if anyone has got these on there car in that size and if they have had any problems with them catching?

Oh yeah, my cars a 16v GTi and its standard height although I will be getting some coilovers for it shortly after the wheel purchase.

Cheers,
Andy

the fronts are fine but I need to roll and pull the arches to be legal! I've got a '90 gti, the police said the whole wheel had to be within the widest part of the arch, ie a vertical line down from the widest point. I'm going to put the g60 arches on to help.

will look awesome though!!

Have you got some on your car already mate? If so can you show me a pic as I want to get an idea of how it will look with the two different size wheels and how far they stick out the arches.

Cheers,
Andy

how do you get them to fit?

I'm only running 15*7 on a 20mm Eibach drop, and still get rubbing at the back - even with the arches fettled :undecided: :undecided: :undecided:

It looks cool as mind!

You can also get 15*7 in the A's as well, but not as common!

I've had them fitted to my GTi for years, I had the wheels made specially though back in the day from Borbet to the correct offset but there's no details on the rears. I use 225 45's on the rear with standard arches. My ride hight is standard and it I've have plenty of weight in the back.(http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o156/AssassinNoir/DSC00358.jpg)

The car's been stuck in my mates warehouse for months, but I decided to have a mess with it today and primed the new front panel I'll be fitting next weekend.

think mine were et25 all round 9 x 16's, took a couple more pics 2nite, they're mighty close, but i can dig it into corners at pretty much any speed without rubbing issues....
i'll PM yer details on how i did it 2morrow, when i've got a bit more time :afro:
