Title: Power steering belt
Post by: The Hoax on 15 February 2004, 22:35
Was wondering if anyone could help.

I can't seem to stop my power steering belt screeching on load - even wth new belt. To adjust I'm slackening both pivot bolts on the pump and the bottom and side bolts on the tensioner and then levering the pump forward before tightening all.

I'm I doing something wrong?

Thanks for your help guys.

yeah had the same problem infact the are three bolts you have to take the whole thing off to get to the other one it's unreachable unless you do this so take the pump off and you'll see it adjust it and tighten then replace pump and adjust with the other two it will look like the wheel will hill the fly wheel but there is plenty of clearence and i would sugeest replacing the belt in the first instance only about three quid from halfords
good luck it a stupid design and it was sent to try us believe me

if the belt is properly tensioned then a bearing in the pump is probably knackered.
