Post by: dwood on 23 June 2007, 18:49
hi i need some help
after running my vag-com today after very poor idle ive came up with the fault
oxygen (lambda) sensor malfuntion in circuit   fault code 16514
mixture adaptation  adaptation limit (add) exceeded fault code 00561
can you let me know if the adaptation mxture limit is becuase of the lambda sensor failing or is it somthing else
also is it very hard to fit new lambda sensor thanks in advance

Only ever removed & replaced one when I decatted my old French tin can - 306!  The fooker had welded itself to the cat - Had to heat it up & get the cat in a vice to remove!!

IIRC, new ones from Pug cost other peeps roughly £100.  Have never enquired about a Mk4 one, sorry.

How uncanny!!! :o  Just done a search on one of my engine codes & this thread came up!  :D

These are 2 out of the 3 codes that I've got at the moment!  :(

Plus, also got a nasty rattle from the manifold/downpipe area.

Definitely a lambda sensor, then?  It's just that I've got a rather unnerving rattle (esp. under load) coming from the manifold area.  :(

If it's the downpipe/cat, then the standard cat & exhaust will be going back on.  :(

I might still have my reducer in the shed so you can leave the exhaust on...

Cheers, Wazzer. :afro:

I should possibly/maybe have it in a box somewhere, as the Blueflame cat-back was on with the standard cat for about 2 years.  :)

Yeah, that'd be great if you're sure Nick & everyone wouldn't mind. :afro:

There's definitely a strong smell of petrol coming out of the area in question.
