Title: hi, need some advice on starter motor

hi all, having a little trouble with starting the car, i fitted a second hand starter the other day and it worked fine at first but now seems to be doing what the last one did - turn the key and its quite slow to turn the engine - sometime it kicks in and sometime it doesnt! now i dont think its the starter which is at fault - but what else could it be - i am missing one of the mounting bolts for the starter which i suppose could be the problem. Also there are two wires that go to the motor on spade connectors - red and black - now can someone tell me the correct place for each wire as at the mo i have red to the connector nearest the engine and black to to the lower connector - is this correct? cheers, rob

well, i replaced the bat just to be sure and fitted a second bolt to it from b & q, if the motor was loose i guess it wouldnt engage the way it should!  :smiley:

up your neck of the woods for six weeks han! off to leconfield to do me hgv course! get to live at home (hornsea!! yay!! lol) lets hope i dont get washed away! hows the river through york?

cool! start the course this monday! so should be about! where abouts in ull is it?  :undecided:
