Title: Main dealer import
Post by: samm134 on 23 June 2007, 10:10
Hi guys

I have looked around the web for a GTi that I want, I have found a Candy white 06 plate at a dealers in Basingstoke, it has the spec that want at the right price, however I have just noticed that it an import, where do you stand buying an import from a main dealer with regards to warrenty and such like.

I have also seen a Candy white import with 0 miles in west sussex speced up to the max, but its not a main dealer.

any help with this will be appreciated.

sam

First 2 years warranty is issued by VW (from date of PDI or OTR) - therefore you have full warranty for the remainder, any VW dealer will honour this as they recover costs etc. from VW.

In the UK the dealers underwrite the third year.

Ask the dealer - they will probably quote you about £500-600 for a third year warranty

Not sure sam, i dont think theres too much hassle when it comes to warranty etc, i think 2 years offered rather then 3 , my best advise is to look at previous threads about buying an import, its been  a very popluar topic , im sure you will find it in the previous thread pages listed below. Candy white awsome, lots of toys even better, thats what makes the GTi that much more actractive to buy.Dont bother with basic spec'd ones, lights, nav, dsg (drive it to see why) , highline, a must/ Good luck, and welcome aboard.

I dont have a clue about buying an import vs a UK car, but I brought my car from Martins in Basingstoke and got top notch service.
