Anyone have any experience of the VW extended warranty? i.e. after the 3 years has run out or to make up a 3rd year on an import?
Just had a quote of £422 for 12 months/15k with VW just wondering if its worth it?
Cheers Stuart

Sounds a lot to me!

Cheap compared to BMW, they wanted £720 for a years cover on my 3 series.

Sounds cheap to me. Porsche are £895 and BMW M-Cars can be over £2k - then again if you've had the car for a while you'll most likely have an idea if it's got any gremlins lurking.

Iif the warranty is teh same as the normal 3-year in terms of items covered...etc then that is a good price... would be worth checking what differences there are between this and the normal manufacturers warranty...
I would be tempted at that price if its as good as the normal warranty!

I paid £399 for a 2 year mechanical warranty (i.e years 4 & 5) including breakdown cover.
Although I bought it from the dealer it's not VW (I think it's from Inchcape, who own loads of main dealers inc. my local VW dealer).
Maybe it's not as good as VW's warranty but it's still unlimited claims up to value of car and including a decent breakdown package it seemed to be good value to me.

I arranged my year 4 warranty through my dealer (who actually paid for it in return for the car breaking down a lot in its first month back in June 2005) and the cost was £235. No mileage limits, and the only criterion is that the car must be less than 60K miles at the 3-year point. It's also transferable to a new owner.
