New on here but have been observing for a wee while.
Gone for steel grey 5 door xenon parking sensors tinted glass and the winter pack - been told 16 weeks worst case senario but hoping to get it sooner!!!
Anyone recommend any extras that they wouldn't be without as I still have two weeks to add anything I want.
Away to stare at the broucher pics again!!!

highline computer; don't ignore it for the sake of £50!
-
The stealer seemed to brush over the highline and said that the only thing it did was give you a second trip computer - what does it really give you then?
-
highline computer; don't ignore it for the sake of £50!
Definately agree with that. Perhaps a front center arm rest too?
My dealer did the same about highline... but it lets you do stuff like set the coming home lights and auto door lock when driving etc. For £50 it is a must have.

Remind me whats in the winter pack again?
I only ask as the Edition 30 comes with heated seats anyway, and if you order Xenons, you get headlight washers too. You could save yourself some money that way
I didn't order the winter pack, as it seemed a lot to pay for heated windscreen washers when the rest of the stuff was coming anyway with my other options. I've since found also that mine also has the low washer fluid sensor warning light, which is described as part of the winter pack
Apart from that, highline computer is a no brainer at £45-50...gives you more control over the settings for lights and central locking (stuff that would normally involve a dealer trip)
The armrest is also useful - I ordered that with ipod preparation

oh, don't get cruise control from the factory at £270
If you want it, get it added at the dealer any time - only £150 all in for parts and fitting that way - quirk of the ordering system!!
Cruise is great, and I wouldn't be without it now on long motorway journeys :)
-
Phope - thanks for that have just read the pahplet and you are right!!! I am going to cancel the winter pack and get the luxury pack and the highline computer instead.
Really big thanks for pointing that out
-
good good
Which dealer are you using? I only ask as my dealer forgot to update my order for one of my options after I went back and changed it - mine then arrived without the multi-function wheel
Make sure you get confirmation from them that they've changed your spec
-
It is Western in Edinburgh - I will call him tomorrow and ask him to send me written confirmation!!!
Once again thanks for pointing that out to me I am really appreciative

no probs...I'm a Scotsman too...I like saving money
-
Wouldn't be without my sunrooof - had one on my previous GTi too.
-
Never had a sunroof in any car I have had and living in Scotland don't really need one to be honest
-
Ah, but down here in England where the sun always shines and we never have thunderstorms, the sunroof is great on a warm summer's day  Makes the interior a lot brighter too.
-
Yeah did think of the brightness issue as you are right it would make the interior lighter - but we have already had our three sunny days this year and as I won't get it till Sept/Oct then all I would see out of it would be clouds or a layer of snow

Highline also gives you Satnav information (when used in conjunction with MFD2 radio).
Directions, road name, time to arrive, distance to go etc.
Whilst you may have not gone for the satnav on day 1, I didn't order it either but got one off ebay cheap and it's an easy fit. If you get the highline now at least you have the option later.
Highline = best value for money.
I love the xenons, but it is a bit of a luxury and hard to justify value wise.
The DSG is an awsome option, but so is the price tag, did u get chance to test drive a dsg?
I went with the sunroof but you have to open the window at the same time or it plays havoc with the wind noise. That is the 1 extra I could have done without.
My philosphy was F*@k it stretch myself cash wise and not regret getting the toys that would be too difficult to fit post manufacture.
-
Never got a chance to test drive one with DSG but from what I have read I am in for a treat!!! It was a standard GTI and that was a good drive so am really looking forward to my first go in an ED 30 eith DSG

IMO the MFSW is a must. Since I've got the car I virtually never touch the head unit and it comes with the Highline comp. Agree with the comments regarding the armrest, another essential bit of kit.
-
Agreed - MFSW is expensive but very useful.
