Copy cat  If you roll with a matt bonnet your wheels will turn white over night, a bodykit will appear out of no ware and before you know it your interior will dissapear and your car will look like this:

The old car before also had a matt black inside section as you can see in this loverly photo:

Ahhhh ive missed Lewy's flexing of his E-thingy.

Now that's a concept i hadn't thought about, Especially if you had a gunmetal Grey hood and a bonnet to match. Maybe even a boot lit but that might be stretching it a little too far by that point.

I cant see anything wrong with that bonnet

I wet and dry'd the laquor peel on my mates car then buffed the crap out of it using a machine buffer. Took the eye away from it

Satin black in a rattle can will do your bonnet fine. Not sure about the actual chalk paint though.

Matt Black will work Jord. Spare bonnet from scrappy not a bad idea to do it with. Then can put old bonnet back on to sell car if needed.

As said above, chalk board paint is in a tin, can be bought from b&q/focus etc.

satin black is a bit more forgiving than matt. it is easier to spray, gives a matt look but without the emptyness of propper matt paint. go satin. nice ride by the way

not sure, was it a pro job? you can see the spray marks! matches the roof though, think you need to satin black the wheels too!

Only my opinion.. It looks too matt! eventually that will turn white! satin black would have looked so much better, and easier to keep looking good, that now looks like a replacement bonnet still in its transit primer.. but 10 out of 10 for haveing the balls to do it though!

Me no likey likey, need to do something with the rims now though, perhaps bin them for something more Mk3 like.

Reminds me of when my dad had to get a new bonnet for his xr2 years ago and he never bothered to get it painted. It was a red car and the bonnet had the black protective/primer coat on it and looked gash.

Make of that what you will!

Post by: tom26 on 05 July 2007, 16:25
i like it. it's a shame you can see the spray lines - or is that just the way it was taken? maybe matching hoods and bonnets could be a new thing? would look cool with a grey mohair hood and matching bonnet? And like joe suggested, colour coded rim centres?

Nah it was the way i took the photo after attempting to dry it with a towel rather badly!

an i like it for the now, like i said, its a tempory fix until respray, although i might keep the bonnet cos itl go with whats happenin to the rest of the car, still got the other one so not difficult to swap em around, horses for courses!

an iv got my new hood, again dont wanna fit it till spray, tis special
