Title: Good deal?
Post by: nickthebubble on 19 June 2007, 21:51
Hi,

I am a newbie here but have been looking for a gti for some time. As I am not the best with motors I am asking a little advice. I have been offered a 1992 Mk 3 Gti 2.0 litre. She has 129,000 on the clock and is in average condition. She also has a private plate although I am not sure what it is. I have seen the car previously but obviously will properly check it out. The owner is a friend of a friend although I do know him vaguely. He wants about a grand for the car. Do you think this is a fair price/what should i aim for. Do you have any tips regarding what problems to look for on the car. I know this may seem like not much info to go on but I would apreciate any advice.

Hope to here from you.

Thanks

Nick

Welcome

That is a tad over priced in my opinion as its an early mk3 golf gti.

I say £800 ish just with the details you have given.

Service history, MOT, TAX, brakes, HPI clear and tyre tread are the ones when buying

Forgot to say that it does have 12 months MOT and the car is pretty standard.

Deffo overpriced for me in "average" condition. There's others out there as already pointed out by blue (and he knows a deal  ) and as tom26 said, but in less words, 8v mk3s are not "hot" hatches and if that's why you're getting one then you will be disappointed.
