Fitted a JVC HU a couple weeks back, all is working and sound is FAB, but the radio signal strength is no where near as good as my old Sony HU. It is all connected using the same aerial and connectors as the sony so why is the JVC crap??
e.g. the "stereo" signal blinks on and off as you are driving indicating signal strength is dipping.
Any clues as I listen to the radio alot and its p|ssing me off!!!
cheers

No idea sorry! but i found the opposite pretty much! everything was ok till I got my sony HU, never owned a JVC but the sound quality is mint I know that much, my father in laws FM pick up on his JVC wasnt too bad if I remember, maybe you just got an off model, they do make amplifiers for the signal I think.

do the amplifiers work?
I may to give one a go!
Is there a way of cutting the old plug off and making the aerial end off again with new plug, just to rule that out (like you would with Sky or terrestrial coax)
Cheers

I wouldnt try extending it, but I suppose it would work, maybe even with the usual co-ax extension connectors. but i wouldnt try it.
im pretty sure the amps work but have never seen one for sale, but from the below link it seems they are for sale but some are pretty poor but they are also sometimes fitted as standard so your car may have an amp boosted antenna allready, may just need plugging in, check this out..

thats interesting!!!
will have to pull the HU out and take a peek!

or change the aerial. I changed mine to a beesting for better reception. If your HU supports digital then get a digital kit etc.
-
i've got the beesting atm.
just put a new one on cos the rubber all peeled off the last one. it maybe needs owerd as the last post, maybe the sony hu was a better tuner than the jvc?

could be, but my sony is useless, they must just vary model to model I think.
