Post by: davey_gti_8v on 17 June 2007, 20:59
Just baught mk2 gti 8v digifant wanted to replace gear box I have heard alot about putting a diesel box in or even a gear box from a 2litre which is my best option as I am new to this and hopefuly you guys are the experts. also is it worth putting a performance chip in the ECU if so what one?

nealy: not quite, you need to swap the friction plate to fit a MK3 2.0 gearbox as the input shaft is bigger :)
Don't put a diesel box in it, the ratios will be crap for your car.  The 2.0 8v box has more relaxed ratios too, so it wont accellerate as well but be better for cruising!
