Title: New GTi Owner
Post by: NORTHERNER on 17 June 2007, 19:19
Well, after going from wanting to purchase a Leon Cupra R, to a desire to buy an RX8, followed by a TT and then followed by a Copper S Works... I managed to find my way to the Golf GTi... and actually put a deposit down on second hand one today - hopefully collecting next Saturday.

Spec as below:

2005 Plate - May 05 first reg
One owner from new
26k on the clock
Full VW service
Tornado Red with:

*Leather
*6 CD Changer
*Sunroof
*Xenons
*Highline Computer

Car also has 19inch BBS CK Alloys fitted which did worry me a little before the test drive but whcih are actually OK and dont compromise the ride too bad.  He also had painted the rear valance to matchthe body work which I think improves the aesthetics a little bit!

Got it for £15,000 (from a private seller) which seems pretty reasonable considering retail with these options it would be £24.3k

Have to say, both Golfs I drove were a little "tappety" at idle which would have worried me a little before reading on this site that this is the norm!

Looking forward to owning it in the long term.

Has it got DSG and 5 doors like were after?

Nope... not DSG or 5 doors... TBH... DSG was a nicety not a necessity... and I prefer the look of 3 doors

ideally it would have been in the colour white... but hell, I can't afford to be that choosy... and the options it has are I think the desirable ones

plus I feel the price is good... 9k off list after two years!!  not bad
