Title: Weights... curious
Post by: Cupra Turbo on 14 February 2004, 01:46
A rover 200 on an S plate with a 1.1i full aluminium engine (not a cast iron block) weighs over a tonne. summet like 1025. Now this car has no electrics or nothing... not even alloys lol.

Now ive heard people saying the mk2 gti weighs in at under 1 tonne... how is this possible?

the gti = cast iron engine... which is proper heavy and its a 1.8l (i think) as well

the gti has electrics and alloys etc... more weight

so how can it be lighter than a Rover (which I may add isnt built using as good materials, so surely the materials are lighter in the Rover)

... anyone explain?

PS: I also think the Rover 200 is a smaller car... but only just...
