Hi I'm looking at getting a Mk2 Golf Gti (you probably guessed that I suppose) and was just wondering if I could get some tips on where is the best place to look for a good one, what to look out for (as in problems wise) and any good things to look out for. Tnx

Some basic stuff, check for rust!, engine wise it'll be good too 150k+ but head wear leads to oil burn (blue exhaust fumes) so go for lower miles (obvious I know ), when test driving check for second gear 'crunch' as synchronomesh is common problem. power steering is a nice option but there are a few threads to convert if you can't find one.
Good luck
