It's a piece of pipe coming from the metering unit to the throttle body. It's made of metal instead of plastic, I'm not too sure if there is any real power gain or if it?s for sound/looks.

possibly good for a bit extra power if you add a decent airfilter /induction kit . i got one fitted . made a difference with noise when i drilled my air box . right grunty muddy funkster i can tell you . looks pretty aswell . nice stainless steel mine is . if you want one would recomend www.trimsport.co.uk . very helpful people and everything is hand made. :)

Got one on the Mk1, pipe is wider and more direct than original. Also I have got a Digifant spec throttle body on mine so hopefully i am getting better airflow to the engine. My car sounds like a demented wasp in a Jar when it opens up. ;D

did i see a can of red bull under your bonnet???  Or is it jus me?  You have a water deflector under there or is that the original plastic bit?  Just I've got one in the post and was wondering where to fit it, whether to remove the old plastic thing and whether they were any good?

fitting is piss easy.
just undo the 2 jubiley clips, remove 'orrid plastic pipe, poke in the new shiney one and do them back up.

they are easy to fit but can be a bit tight to fit the rubber pipes on to. what i done was take the pipes of and heated them with a hair dryer made plastic more elastic and  easier to fit. :)

them power rohr's are technically worse for the air flow as they are not mandrel bent, the bend is just welded - so the airflow is disturbed when it hits the bend

there is an american company that does a mandrel bent version for ?70, but i cant remember their name

its something like, AMD, SMD, or AMB or something!!
