Title: Clock-pics???
Post by: HuwMk2 on 13 June 2007, 19:56
Hi, these clocks are fitted to my 1991 8v. Not the original clocks as the mfa was knackered so were replaced. Never seen clocks like this before, which model/year are they from? The speedo is out and tells me I'm doing 10-15mph more than I actually am. Does this have something to do with the clocks being unsuitable for the car?

Here's a pic:

nah you just need to change the speedo drive on the end of the speedo cable

there are only 2 types a red one & a white one. so whatever colour you currently have, go get the other from VAG, only cost buttons also

them clocks look bizarre as although they have vdo faces, it has a motometer temp gauge!!

Cheers, I like the look of the clocks, never seen anything like it, especially the needles. They're a little similar to the ones in my 87 8v.

later 8v's had the water temp light between the battery and oil temp lights. the earlier ones have the water temp light on the temp gauge, or so im led to believe!

as crevice says the light is an early/late thing.  As for the speedo, it looks like whoever took the pins off to paint em didnt put the speedo needle in the right place, if you open the clocks you'll see a little line just before the pin stop, lift the needle over the stop and line it up with this line and all should be well :)

Im glad VW put a line on them as Rover certainly didnt... mind you, Rover needle spindles are prone to snapping!
