Title: EDITION 30..WHY DOES IT HANDLE SLIGHTLY BETTER?????
Post by: ed30 on 12 June 2007, 14:05
HI THERE,
can anyone explain this one im slightly confused re my ed30 suspension, now with 1800miles on clock i initially put it down to its mileage, however if you drive on good a class road or motorways,no real negatives/positives that was on my previous 55plate gti, over weekend took it on a real welsh back road drove fast but sensibly, this road has many twists turns and a real car test,on the previous gti there was a controlled oversteer into a down hill stretch, same one on the ed30 more control no oversteer and front feels more solid,on a tight uphill section as you power away  a more positive feel car feels fraction more stable...
Today contacted my dealer, service manager said the ed30 has stock gti suspension which we were made aware by press, certain roadtests, however im not too sure, have these german engineers made slight tweeks ie bushes, anti roll bar thickness, spring stiffness
I have no answer anyone in the know.......

ALSO MY ED30 IS RETURNING BETTER MPG ..2mpg on average than the gti,i presume this is down to the turbo spooling up at the higher rpm...

Anti-roll bars make a noticeable difference to how a car handles. It's one of the best value-for-money mods you can do.

Both tyre profiles the same,on the previous gti i had the 18inch Monza conversion, tyre pressure on both as instructed, checked every weekend, spoke with my salesman today he noticed that on their dsg ed30 demo car, golf gti owners noticed a more solid feel, and being a demo no doubt its been driven to its limit as well,

....Lower than what? Autocar/AutoExpress etc cannot be relied on - It's well known.

That's arse. It's the same height as the normal GTI. Just look at the VW brochure, it tells you the height of both models and it's the same.  :nerd:

On the ed30 and gti they are exactly the same ride height, the only visible difference are the new valances giving the impression its lower, but having driven both so close to each other there is a slightly more positive feel to it, but you only feel this on testing roads not normal a class roads, perhaps the germans havent been so lazy as the press reports made out, strange that the dealers cannot shed light on the settings....

strange that the dealers cannot shed light on the settings....

dealers aren't interested in the car and its specifications.  they're more interested in how quickly and in how many different ways they can empty your wallet!!!
