Title: First time GTI mk2 '87 buyer, help please!!!!!

Hello can anyone 1 help!!!

I'm seriously looking at buying an '87 D reg GTI in Red. From what i gather from the owner, its had a recent re-spray before he bought it and its a really good job. Inside is perfect original rims. Its only done 77k which is either extremly good or slightly dodgey but the story goes its been in a garage for 8 years and hadn't been touched. its had a cam belt in which has done 3000. Thats all i know really. I'm getting my mechanic to have a look but can anyone give me any pointers things we should defo check and make sure. Any faults which could be apparant at that milage or if its higher than what it says what would give that away. Anyway thats enough of me talking any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

have a look on www.matey-matey.com, there is a buying guid eon ther whoch should tell you most things, basically check for accident damage and check the vin number matches the log book, usual stuff, any signs on rot underneath , erm check condton of pedals, etc, steering wheel  seats etc although you say thats perfect, so sounds good. Have a loo at the car at different angles to check for filler, botched repairs etc. Sounds good though  :smiley:
