Title: little tailpipe
Post by: karmakanix on 12 February 2004, 21:54
Is there a difference between a GTi back box and a 1600? I have an 84 mk2 GTi with the small hole in the rear valance (which I want to keep). I am having trouble getting a sports back box with a single pipe that is not too big (70 mm is perfect I reckon). all the single exit boxes I have found seem to be the right size when they leave the silencer then step up to a drainpipe. I have noticed that the non-GTi boxes look about right (and will fit my rear valance). I remain unconvinced that a massive tailpipe will make any difference other than aesthetics. any suggestions?

Go for a freeflow exhaust thats made to your spec. There are plenty of places around the country that will do it and you have masssive choice on the tailpipe used

Odd that you have only got half the cutout, wonder if your car has been reshelled in the past as all Gtis should have space for the double exit exhaust as standard.
