Cant give you an exact spec, but when i neeed a top up I went to the parts counter of my local VW and asked there. £12 for a liter of the longlife stuff.

Castrol Edge is what you need, make sure it has the number 504 00 on the back, as per the VW owners manual. I got it from Halfrauds, however also sell Castrol Edge Sport, which isn't 504 00, however the packaging is almost identical, so beware! :smug:

Hey.
Just sent my father a email. He is a lubricant supplier. Will get back to you soon.

Unfortunatly my father says that the lubricant is VW certified and is only supplied by VW.
There is no other equivelant for the DSG Boxes fluid.
That is however in South Africa. So overseas may be different.
I would listen to what 2007GTI says....

I've just bought some 503 00, which is the other recommended oil according to the manual. Does anyone knoe the differance between 504 00 and 503 00?

my manual just says 504 00, what page does it say 503 00?

I'll have a look when I get home in the manual.

Just checked and the oil recommendation is in the the tech data manual, 3.3, page 9. States that VW spec 504 00 or 503 00 long life can be used. :nerd:

The 503.00 is the LongLife 2 standard (0w30), and the 504.00 is the newer LongLife 3 standard (5w30).
For the soot slingers, one is NOT compatible with the DPF. Both LL2 and LL3 have a "High Temperature High Shear" (HTHS) rating - which is good for turbos.
The 502.00 oil, which they would use for the fixed interval "Time and Distance" regime does not have a HTHS rating! :nerd:

Dear TT,
From the last comment if you have a DSG GTi on Time and Interval servicing then you need the 502.00 lubricant.
I'm not sure but I don't think that this is mentioned in the manual (which sadly I have read :nerd: from cover to cover and still do look at).
I will happily bow down to your undoubted knowledge and experience.
Oh, by the way, welcome back after your long absence.

You are sort of correct. For the T&D servicing, the minimum requirement is 502.00. You can still use the higher spec 504.00 on T&D, and indeed, this is very strongly recommended, particularly as VW/Audi have recently revised their "criteria" for LongLife servicing!
Oh, by the way, welcome back after your long absence.
Thanks
