Ordered 1st week in March arrived 7/06.
Lovin it, did 400 miles on first day then brought her home and fitted the sat nav (got it off Ebay for £400 with dvd and aerial). Fit was quite easy (I used the docs nokia kit install pics) but still very nervous when tugging the fashia off. I installed the original VW IPOD kit at the same time which is now located in the glovebox. (£60 of ebay).
If you see a bloke in a white golf with a big smile on his face then it's probably me.
Love the DSG box.
Spec: Candy White, 3dr, DSG, Sunroof, SatNav, Highline, park sensors, Xenons.

Congrats on the new car.
Open an account on photbucket. Upload your pics on there and paste the URL link (found under the pictures after uploading) onto the forum. On top of the emoticons there is an icon of a picture.
Click this and paste the link in there.
It should show like this:
After pasting the link on the inside.
(http://BLAH BLAH BLAH)
Then it will show your picture.
Hope that helps. If not there is a thread somewhere on this forum whicj explains it.

I'm loving the white big time now... need to be taking the long way round and avoiding the local stealers me thinks  Mind you, I had a white car (non-VW) a while ago and I got p155ed of with people telling me how difficult it would be to keep clean. Funny how people generally don't say how stunning new GTi's look, they just make stupid comments about keeping them clean and fuel consumption! Strange thing jealously
I'm no boy racer but sometimes a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. I was sitting at some lights minding my own business a while ago when a Focus with big wheels pulled up next to me and started creeping forward. Talk about goodnight sweetheart  (and I wonder why people get a chip on their shoulders about shiny new GTi's)

Very nice.....Looks good in white

My worst enemy is the fly in particular the contrast of blood and fly wings against the white body.
I had a MK4 Silver GTI which looked awesome and hid the road grime well but I wanted a change which was the reason I plumbed for white.
Candy White - Brave or stupid ?
-
flys are the biggest problem for my Candy White ...but get the car properly waxed with a decent wax though, and they'll just wash straight off with the jetwash or a washmitt
-
which seller did you get the MFD2 from on Ebay, btw? I think the screen makes the dash look a lot better, and fancy changing my RCD300 later this year
-
Another gorgeous ED30
DSG is marvellous and I'm glad you'rs another convert to the cause
I can see by one of your pics another golf hiding behind the ED30, is it yours or the neighbours?

The Black Golf is my wife's car, we got it last year (Mk5 1.6 FSI)
My last car was a BMW 3 series cab Msport, but this ed30 knocks the pants off it in the driving department. Much more comfortable and twice as fast.
The ed30 is a thrill a minute and I'm still taking it easy while it's not quite run in yet.
I got the sat nav from ebay id "supersellpower", I just checked and they don't have any listed at the moment.
Because of the high value and the number of dodgy ebayers out there, my advice would be (before you bid on one) to ask the seller can you pick it up in person, if they accept then it's likly to be real if they won't let you then somethings fishy!
That said, I got very nervous driving to their flat in North London in a posh car, with a suit on a £450 in my pocket.
My faith in humanity remains intact as the seller was very helpful, they demo'd the unit and gave me a Europe map DVD and the external GPS attenna. I mounted the GPS antenna directly on top of the unit and the signal is perfect (not dropped a beat).
Double check it's the DVD model with the chrome/silver buttons and it's not the older one with black buttons.
When I fitted it, it was a straight replacement for the existing RCD300 with no extra wiring. I was pleasentley suprised when all the nav information comes up on the Highline computer, roadname, time to arrive, etc etc.
All i need now is some green neon's underneath and I'm ready to cruise

Yep, Thats the same seller I got mine off. Apologies, I paid £75 not £60.
It came brand new unopened.
There was already a hole at the top of the glovebox, so did not need to do any drilling.
The instructions that come with is are good. The hardest part of the job was getting the brown wire out of the existing radio connector. On the instructions it tells you to use a VAG tool which I didn't have.
I found 2 safety pins pushed down the side if the connector did the trick.
The kit comes with a little connector with the same brown wire connection on, so there is no wire cutting just plug and pray.
I think there has been a few posts on what info you get on the headunit.
My experience is that the MFD2 reports that it has a CD in magazine slot 1 and another in magazine slot 6.
Both virtual "CD's" have 99 tracks each. You do not get the actual track name it just says CD1 Track 1 etc. (this is also displayed on the highline computer)

Thanks man. That was very helpful. I'm going to order it and should have it to install over the coming weekend. Thanks

Mine is here 18th juni, also candy white

I resisted the urge to ring and change the colour (pre-manufacture) about 10 times. I love the steel grey colour but stuck to my guns and went with my gut feeling. I told a couple of my neighbours I was getting a white car and they just looked at me with a "you lost the plot bud" look.
soooo pleased I didn't change my mind, it looks awesome, one of the few cars that can pull it off.

Black for myself but I am warming to white. Agree with using a good quality wax such as Meguiars, P21S, Zymol or Swissol. Good looking car and I'm sure you will enjoy it immensely
