Sorry for rubbish pitcure! The pictures dont do it justice.
rushed over to the dealer I got it from (Heritage Westbury) and were very prompt and it will be £250 to repair! They said as I got it from them and its so new, they felt sorry for me and would do it cheaper (dont know if I beleive that!)
Luckily the plastic bumber took most of the pain, which is just going to be replaced at £45, then its just having the paint repaired. If it had been and Edition 30 I think it would have been alot more to fix due to colour coded bumpers.

Guys at VW say that looks like a trolley (looks to low down for me), but god knows how much it would have cost if I wasnt a "retail" customer and was having the insurance pay for it!

How can people do stuff like this I just dont know?

Mark

just an accident...

I feel your pain, some of us guys love our cars just as much as our second halves (if not more  ). It must be genetic.

You could always ask the shop if they have CCTV if you wanted to see if it was a trolley or a car. If it was a car you may get the number and traceability through the plod :nerd:

Seeing that makes me so mad    I always park at the far end of the supermarket carpark even if it's raining to ensure my chariot doesn't get hit. I usually come back to find a couple of 3 door cars parked next to me with kid seats in the back ( and the stereo typical fat arsed single mother trying to get her kids out of the car with her arse banging the door into my pride and joy )  Some times you just gotta take it on the chin mate.

A bloke I used to work with was waiting for his wife in a car park when some dizzy bird opened her door and banged it into his. He said she was unaware of him sitting in his car, until he opened the door of his old LandRover and slammed into hers... bit of rough justice I suppose

Tw@ts

Sadly, typical of today's society though.

I never park close to trolley bays or cars with child seats in. Always take 2 bays whenever I can. Better still, use the wife's car for the shopping trips

Hay

We had an accident with a trolley too. The Honeycombe grill (the part under the red stripe) had a collision. It is scratched badly. Its almost like someone took harsh sand paper and rubbed a single line across the shiny plastic

We have tried polishes and such. But to no avail.

You are not alone.

Funny.

I took my parents out today, we visited all the exciting places, B&Q, garden centre etc.   My dad, who walks with a stick, asked why we always had to park so far from the door when there were loads more spaces up front.

You can't even explain that can you.  I told him it was so he could open the door wider.

Join the club! Some W****r hit my ED30 while it was parked up at a golf club on saturday night.  Crumpled the wheel arch on the near side, FUMING! (obviously they left no details).
Oh and it scuffed the alloy!!

Is it that bad? Try post a pic if you can.

I'll find my camera out tonight if I get chance. Got two quotes, both roughly the same, both said new wing.  It doesn't look that bad, but its creased the metal from the bottom 'lip', right up to the bonnet, they say it won't push out, not really an expert on body work, but naturally I want it looking like new!

Well, I always try and park in a space with no space to the left hand side if you catch my drift with usually the end of spaces marked with a curb or wall or something. Always means parking the further most away which annoys my girlfriend. My theory is that people always drive in to a space rather than reverse and 8 times out of 10 they are on their own. so they will open to their door on to the car next to them and not mine! I have found this works quite well. Its dents on the door that do my nut too

Im so carefully though - Ive had 5 brand new cars and never had so much as a car park ding ever! Im not afraid to say it, but when I saw that on my GTI, i could have cried!

I can relate to that! I was gutted  I always take care when parking like you say, but unfortunately on Saturday my options were limited.

Heres a couple of pics, hard to see on a photo because of the reflections, doesn't look much but you can just make out the crease up the wing.

More tw@ts. Better off with a new wing though as opposed to trying to get the panel correctly aligned again. I have heard of heat and dry ice giving a somewhat successful repair though, but the repaint would still have to be done:

Yours does look more dented the mine and mine was the rear panel, not front, but this is the damage I had and they managed to make it look as if nothing had happened without replacing the panel and for alot less. But they are saying you shuold replace it, then you got to listen to them really.

Hi Mark

Have they done the work yet?  I live in Melksham and I got my MK4's body work done by a small firm on the Westbury trading estate ,which I got quoted £380 by Heritage, for £50 cash.  Its not what you know is it!  I can get you thier details if you like.  For your piece of mind they were re-spraying a 56 plate R32 bonnet after 2 other bodyshops said the bonnet would have to be replaced.  They are very good.

Enjoy the GTI mate (even if its not an ED30  :smug:), hope to see you around

Paul

Absolutely outrageous!  They should hang people who do that and then drive off without leaving so much as a note. It must be heart breaking for you. Barstewards!

Evil barstewards that do that kind of thing really should have their licence taken away - if they have one in the first place.  Thining about it, the guilty culprit probably is defficient in either licence, MoT or insurance!

Regading the front wing replacement - front wings are designed for easy replacement - being held on by about 8 bolts - so it is far easier to bolt a new wing on, than faf around with panel beating and filler.

If someone had deliberately done that to my Ed 30 I wouldn't forget it for life ... I'd be thinking of ANY way to find out who did it and they wouldn't want to be caught believe me - thankfully never happened to me due to a combination of luck and extreme fussiness as to where I parked.

Well I've just had the call to say my ED30 is all fixed and ready for collection! I'll definately be more careful (or should that be anal?) as to where I leave it parked from now on! Any 'overnighters' will be done in the girlfriends rav4 from now on...I'll make her think its for the best
