Title: mk1 history search
Post by: mr ritz on 07 June 2007, 19:18
hey folks,

firstly, sorry if this in the wrong section!!

i was wondering if anybody had any ideas as to finding out a little bit about their cars history?

i'm not on about HPI style details just a bit about where their car was registered, where abouts it lived with its 10 previous owners?!! not for any dodgy reasons just plain old curiosity?!!

thanks if anybody can help!!

I think that data protection will scupper a lot of investigative work for something like this. Forums are a good place to start, but don't forget that just because someone drives a particular car it doesn't necessarily mean that they are enthusiasts and/or frequent forums and shows etc.

totally understand that all people arent bothered about the cars they've had!!  i know the car has been round the country as its got a lancaster plate on and i bought it fron newquay and now its up in newcastle!!!  they dont half cover some ground over 24 years?!!!

just thought there might be a facility for tracing the history whilst protecting the owners particulars!! i tried my vin number in a free data search web site and it wont recognise it although it checks out with the stamped number on the body and the v5 is all sweet?

not as simple as i hoped!!!

thanks guys

It's a nice thought and I can see why you might want to find it out but I doubt you'll find much, but you never know.
